How To: Add Application Shortput to Plasma Desktop on KDE (Kubuntu)

This inst that of a nerdy thing to quote on a blog, but still for newbies, especially those to KDE. For sake of understanding we will take the example of creating a shortcut to Firefox.

1. Right click on the Desktop Folder on desktop and select New->Link to application.

2. In the applications tab  select description as 'Firefox Web Browser'. and select command as 'firefox %u'. This is very important as this links the shortcut to the application.

 Thats it done!

  1. It's also possible to add a shortcut by simply dragging the application shortcut from the application launcher menu to the desktop (or to a panel). Widgets have to be unlocked of course.
